The Aunties is based on the lives of Black farmers and culture keepers, Paulette Greene and Donna Dear. It also integrates the immense and incredible legacies of Harriet Tubman and Mt. Pleasant Acres Farms.

Charlyn Magdaline Griffith-Oro is artist and scholar with a wholistic abolition and art practice. They create objects, and performance which respond to their genealogical studies, and histories of intimate abuse related to Caribbean legacies of enslavement.  They are also researching migration between the so-called West Indies, the U.K., and Philadelphia and developing a feature-length version of their film The Aunties, which taps into Black, LGBTQIA, intergenerational storytelling and land stewardship along the Northeast cities of the Underground Railroad. They were born in London, England to a Trinbagonian mother and Guyanese father. And they live and work alongside homesteads in Lenapehoking (Philadelphia), and Chemehuevi land (Joshua Tree, CA).

Climate Justice, Program Manager at the Center for Cultural Power, who collaborates with BIPOC climate storytellers and movement groups working at the intersections of art, culture, and environmental justice. She is a Filipino/Congolese interdisciplinary artist ranging from music production to sustainable design . She also co-directed The Aunties, produced by and starring Black queer women, in a narrative about two Black farmers and stewardship of Harriet Tubman’s ancestral land. Oro 5’s music can be found on all major streaming platforms.
