A still from Assembly shows a group of Black and Brown people, they are smiling and laughing, their arms are raised in celebration.

Assembly @ cinéSPEAK Under the Stars

We excited to co-present Philadelphia premiere of Rashaad Newsome and Johnny Symons’ Assembly at cinéSPEAK Under the Stars, in partnership with Be Reel Black Cinema Club and Philly Black Pride! Meet us at Clark Park in West Philadelphia next Friday, June 13 at 7pm for the special outdoor screening. Assembly follows visionary artist Newsome as he transforms a historic military facility into a Black queer utopia, blending art, AI, and performance. Through stunning visuals and deeply personal performances, Assembly captures the transformative power of creativity as a fractured community comes together to find strength, solidarity, and liberation. The evening will include live music with DJ Delish and food vendors. Bring your own blanket and chairs!

Inclement Weather Policy: If there is a 50% or more chance of rain or storm, it is less than 60 degrees at sundown and/or the park is too wet, we will need to postpone to the immediate Saturday. If the Saturday has similar conditions, we will work to move the event indoors to the chapel at Calvary Center for Culture & Community. Please stay tuned on socials for updates!

Transportation: Street parking is available but limited. We always recommend taking public transportation or ride-sharing when possible. Public transportation routes nearby: T2 and T3

Food & Beverage: A food vendor will be on site (please see social media for more info) and there are many food options along Baltimore Avenue.

Accessibility: The bowl is a natural amphitheater left behind when an old pond was drained. It is grassy on the sides and a mix of bare grass and dirt in the center. 2 ADA accessible porta-potties on the 45th Street side of the bowl bordering Chester Avenue, with lights, hand sanitizer, and toilet paper. Access to the bowl is via unpaved grassy pathways which slope from Clark Park sidewalks. Screen is visible from the top of the bowl near sidewalks on the east side of the bowl.
